Graduated in Veterinary Medicine from Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro (1985), master’s degree in Pharmacology from Universidade Estadual de Campinas (2000) and doctorate in Biochemical Pharmaceutical Technology from Universidade de São Paulo (2005). He was Scientific Researcher V at the Butantan Institute, developing technological work for the development of serums and vaccines. He served as Director of Quality Assurance from 2003 to 2007. Since April 2007 he is a Professor at the Department of Biochemical-Pharmaceutical Technology, Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of São Paulo. His research lines are: a) development of processes in serum and vaccines (upstream and donwstream); b) validation of biotechnological processes and quality control of biological products; c) studies on adjuvants and delivery systems for vaccines and antigens for serum production, d) cell culture applied to the production of viral vaccines and cytotoxicity assays and e) synthesis of recombinant protein “cell free”. At the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of USP he is responsible for the Laboratory of Immunobiologicals and Biopharmaceuticals and teaches the undergraduate courses “Supervision and Quality Assurance” and “Serum and Vaccine Technology”. In the post-graduation course, he teaches “Strategies and Management of Pharmaceutical and Biotechnological Processes”. In 2008 he became ad hoc advisor of FAPESP, in 2009 he became part of the Thematic Technical Committee of Biological Products of the Brazilian Pharmacopoeia with ANVISA, from 2012 to 2013 he was a member of the Committee Board on Global Health, Institute of Medicine of The National Academies of Science in Washington, USA and on February 23, 2013 he took the chair number 17 of the National Academy of Pharmacy. And in July 2014 he became a full member of the National Council for the Control of Animal Experimentation – CONCEA / CNPq. In 2016 he received a scholarship for Productivity in Technological Development and Innovative Extension DT-2015.
